Opened in 1970 with one rink, the Bloomington Ice Garden (BIG) has grown to three rinks (one of
them Olympic-sized) and a seating capacity of 2,500.

Ride the Zamboni
– The Ice Garden's Zamboni Ice Resurfacers shave, wash and pour the ice on all three
rinks at the Bloomington Ice Gardens. Ice at the arenas is made with water purified through a
reverse osmosis system. The Bloomington Ice Garden uses two 100-ton refrigeration units to keep
everything frozen. The pure water freezes at a higher temperature which saves energy and
creates better quality ice.

About developmental ice
- Open to all skaters wishing to develop their hockey skills.
- Players can spend time with a coach, parent, on their own or they have an opportunity to
bring in an instructor for private lessons to work on hockey skills.
- Helmet and mouth guard are required.

- Open to hockey players all ages (mite-high school).
- Divider curtains will be down. Pick a rink and play.
- Parents and Coaches NOT allowed on ice with players.
